Leonie Thompson

Melbourne Piano Teacher and Pianist

I offer piano lessons in my Travancore (3032) studio, for students in the surrounding suburbs (Flemington, Kensignton, Ascot Vale, Moonee Ponds, Essendon, Brunswick, Parkville, and North Melbourne).

I specialise in classical piano tuition, and am experienced in preparing students for AMEB exams. Ages 6+ and all levels from beginners to advanced are welcome.

Piano lessons are tailored to individual students' needs, and nurture individual curiosity and creativity.
Parents (and siblings) are encouraged to sit in on lessons, with tea/coffee, books, ipad music apps and wireless internet on offer while you wait.

Student concerts each term boost a positive and supportive performance environment, and I encourage every student to introduce their piece (great public speaking practice).

Lessons are 30 mins, 45 mins or 1hour for the more advanced.

My rates are $70/hr paid in advance of school term
or
$80/hr for pay-as-you-go lessons.

Lesson Policies:

I require 24 hours notice to cancel lessons.

If less than 24 hours notice is provided, students will be charged for the missed lesson. If ample notice is provided due to the occasional illness or scheduling conflict, every effort will be made to re-schedule lessons.

A maximum of 3 lessons may be cancelled for a full refund each term.

Students require a notebook and plastic folder.

I write weekly practice goals in student notebooks, and provide sheet music and exercises to go into their folders (unless a music course book is used).

     Students require a piano.

Or a weighted, full-length (88 key) keyboard with pedals. This allows students to practice at home every day to ensure progress and enjoyment.

Tuition fees have perks but are non-refundable.

Payment for school term is encouraged upfront at $70/hr, and based on weekly lessons.

Lesson-by-lesson payment is also accepted at the higher rate of $80/hr.

I have a current Police Check, and  Working With Children Check.
